On Friday, the 5th, students from the Monchique City Council Senior Academy planted around 100 cork oaks (Quercus suber) along the road that connects Alferce to São Marcos da Serra, in an initiative integrated in the 5th edition of “Let's reforest Portugal".
The Monchique Senior Academy is in operation for the second school year. The cork oak planting activity was part of the Citizenship/Active Life course plan, directly organized by the Forestry Technical Office of the Municipality of Monchique.
The plantation had the support of employees of the municipality and was visited by Mayor Rui André.
