Civil ProtectionThe Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan of Olhão has been in force since Wednesday, the day after the document was published in Diário da República.

This plan “allows to organize, guide, facilitate, streamline and standardize the actions necessary to respond in the best way, as well as anticipate scenarios likely to trigger a serious accident or catastrophe”.

“The Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan is a formal document in which civil protection authorities at the municipal level define the guidelines regarding the way in which the various bodies, services and structures to engage in operations of their intervention will act. The restoration of normality in the affected areas is another of its objectives, in order to minimize the effects of a serious accident or catastrophe on people, goods and/or the environment”, according to the Chamber of Olhão.

One of the advantages that is expected to take, after the entry into force of this plan, is the anticipation of "scenarios likely to trigger a serious accident or catastrophe", with the document defining, "in an unequivocal way, the entire organization and procedures for preparation and increasing responsiveness'.

The first exercise, within the scope of the Emergency Plan for Civil Protection in Olhão, will take place in about 3 months, with the first revision of the document scheduled, according to the law, for two years from now.
