The dissatisfaction of the people of Olhao was already evident in the two times that strangers tore down the net installed by REFER, which was replaced a few days later. The last episode of this war, started with the original closing of the ticket, about a month ago, it happened this week, when REFER, a few days after seeing the ticket reopened, opened a moat the entire width of the pass, to try to prevent the population from passing through.
A measure publicly repudiated by the Parish Council of Olhão, not least because it was carried out at a time when the passage was not fenced, with the danger that this entails.
REFER closed the crossing, with a network, the following day and circulation was again made exclusively through the underpass connecting Avenida da República and Avenida Bernardino da Silva. An alternative that, for the PCP/Olhão, “does not offer safety and mobility conditions”.

"Despite the delay, it is the chamber's obligation to develop all possibilities for dialogue with REFER and make available the resources of the municipality so that the most adequate technical solution can be studied and found to safeguard the right of the populations to passage in safe conditions."
