Residents of Ilha da Armona, in the municipality of Olhão, are being signaled by the Maritime Police and the City Council, with the aim of making more effective the support and assistance provided to those who live permanently on this barrier island in the Ria Formosa and they need more attentive care, either because of their age or because of their health status.
The action, whose idea came from the Command of the Maritime Police of Olhão, began last Wednesday and has already allowed the signaling of 9 people, mostly seniors. The objective “is to carry out a survey of the residents of Ilha da Armona who are in a situation of greater isolation, namely the senior population and people in a situation of limited mobility”.
«With this initiative, the intention is to carry out frequent monitoring of the people who have been flagged, establishing a closer relationship with them, either through home visits or telephone contacts», reinforced the municipality of Olho, in a press release.
“Feelings of security and support from the rear are reinforced with this initiative”, considered, for his part, the mayor of Olhão António Pina.
A new operation to survey situations that deserve greater attention from the Maritime Police and the Municipality's Planning and Social Action Division will be carried out "soon".
