trefaut alentejoToday, in a press release, the Municipality of Moura rejoiced with the decision of UNESCO to inscribe the Alentejo cante on the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

To mark the occasion, the municipality organizes on Sunday, 30, at 16:00 pm and 21:15 pm, at the Cine-Teatro Caridade, in Moura, two cinema sessions with the presentation of the award-winning film “Alentejo, Alentejo”, by director Sérgio Tréfaut. Admission is free.

The local authority recalls that it was part of the broad movement to support the candidacy that has just been approved since the beginning.

“It is about the recognition of the exceptional importance of this genuine cultural expression of the Alentejo, the identity symbol of a region and a people”, stresses that Lower Alentejo municipality.

A decision that is «a reason of pride for the people of Alentejo and for all the Portuguese and that will certainly contribute to the safeguard, enhancement and modernization of singing, as well as to the development of innovative projects around Music and Tourism».

On this occasion, the Municipality of Moura – “which supported, supports and will continue to support singing, a permanent practice in our land – salutes the singers, rehearsers and leaders of the choir groups in the municipality and reaffirms its availability to the associative movement people to continue to work on promoting culture and development”.
