Portimão_cruise portPortimão will be present at the Sea Algarve Expo, an event to be held at Portimão Arena between 9 and 11 October, to promote all its potential linked to the sea and maritime activities in the economic, cultural, sport and leisure components, both in terms of products and in terms of infrastructures.

ATP – Associação Turismo de Portimão will be represented through nine branches, where offers from its members linked to this sector will be disclosed.

A Sea Algarve Expo it intends to be a milestone in the regional and national panorama, becoming a mandatory part of the annual calendar of all agents that interact with the sea.

The event will have several aspects, including technique, in which issues that concern the Algarve region will be debated, in seminar format, and in which several guest speakers will participate, such as the president of Oceano XXI, Ribau Esteves, AMAL president, Jorge Botelho, CCDR Algarve president, David Santos, Algarve Tourism president, Desidério Silva, and Portimão city council president, Isilda Gomes, who will participate in the seminar “The integration of public policies in the model development of the economy of the Algarve sea”.

At a time when novelties may be announced within the scope of the Portugal 2020 partnership agreement, this area is of particular importance for agents in the Algarve region, and some workshops of particular interest in various fields are also being promoted by Oceano XXI.

 

Several strands connected by the sea

FaroXNUMX of Cape St VincentIn the exhibition area, companies from various subsectors directly and indirectly linked to the sea cluster will be on show, namely in the areas of aquaculture, nautical equipment and components, fishing, sport fishing, canning industry, marinas, diving, shipyards, shipbuilding, salt production, and tourism, among others, as well as public entities with institutional and regulatory responsibilities, in the areas of cruise and leisure ports, tourism and the sea, as well as research centers, municipalities, clubs and associations.

With regard to the educational aspect, it includes the visit of various school groups to the event, with the support of the General Direction of Schools, as well as active participation in its organization and animation, through the special participation of event organization courses, music , theater, photography, and sound.

On the gastronomic side, the taverns will highlight delicacies from the sea, carrying out specific promotion and show cooking actions for certain fishing resources provided by some of the exhibitors, such as mussels and oysters (Companhia de Pescarias do Algarve) and cuttlefish and mackerel (Docapesca), with the participation of Tertúlia Algarvia and IEFP – Employment and Vocational Training Institute, in a space operated by the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, while in the entertainment and entertainment area, some exhibitors will energize the event with several parallel and animated events.

Finally, the business aspect will translate into the existence of a lounge, integrated into the exhibition, with the aim of promoting and improving the relationship between the business fabric and the latter with the University of Algarve, through meetings with researchers, with view to the development of competitive factors of companies, with this component of the ecento with a space for quick presentations, in which exhibitors can publicize their products, projects and businesses.

As it is a first edition, the event will target professionals in the sector, schools in the Algarve, and the general public, with the objective of affirming the Algarve as a region of importance and dimension in the sea cluster.

In addition, it aims to provide professionals from the various subsectors linked to the sea cluster the chance to meet, discuss common problems, develop businesses, and define the future together, simultaneously with the purpose that Mar Algarve Expo provides their agents an opportunity to promote and market their products to new audiences.

Portimão fishing portIn parallel to the institutional program, various nautical events will take place during the event, such as the “8st Trophy Mar Algarve Expo – DGEstE-DSRAL – Escolar Sport” on October 1, which includes canoeing, surfing and sailing events aimed at students from the Rio Arade, Poet António Aleixo and Júdice Fialho School Groups, while on the 9th, 10th and 11th there will be a set of traveling animation activities, photo sessions, projections and video and audio reports, promoted by students from the Professional Courses of the Groups the Manuel Teixeira Gomes and Poet António Aleixo Schools and the Gil Eanes Professional School, all in Portimão, which is also associated with the Tomás Cabreira School, from Faro.

Signed by Maralgarve – Association for the Promotion of Knowledge and the Economy of the Sea in the Algarve and organized by L PRO Lda., a tourism consultancy and event organization company, the event has as partners Oceano XXI and the Algarve Anima Association, the sponsorship the Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve and the Algarve Tourism Region and also has the support of CCDR Algarve, University of Algarve, General Directorate of School Establishments, Employment and Vocational Training Institute; Municipality of Portimão and Portimão Tourism.

Portimão Arena, located in Portimão's Fairs and Exhibitions Park, is equipped in its 4.000 square meters of area with the latest technology capable of a wide range of events, whether sports competitions, exhibitions, concerts, associative meetings, congresses or events this weekend of October 4th and 5th, it will host another edition of the BLIP – Better Living in Portugal fair, which brings together around 90 exhibitors representing different business areas.
