XV_Meeting_MunicipalitiesThe XV National Meeting of Municipalities with a Historic Center will take place in Lagos, on the next 30th, 31st of October and 1st of November.

The program highlights themes such as concepts and criteria for rehabilitation and safeguarding, modern life in the old city, financing of urban rehabilitation, rehabilitation and sustainability, and seismic risk in historic centres.

According to the organization, in charge of the Portuguese Association of Municipalities with Historical Center, this meeting's main objective is to reflect on the problems of urban rehabilitation, safeguarding heritage and seismic risk in historic centres. Particular emphasis will also be given to issues relating to the financing of rehabilitation and the need to envisage a sustainable management of the heritage.

During the XV National Meeting of Municipalities with Historic Centers, political leaders, technicians and specialists in different areas will share information, knowledge and experiences, and debate policies, strategies and technical and financial solutions.

In addition to the work sessions, which take place at the Lagos Cultural Centre, the program also includes study visits, exhibitions, exhibitions and the sale of publications, as well as the official opening of the period for the presentation of candidacies for the “Alexandre Herculano” National Architecture Award (PNAAH, 2014/2015 edition).

The initiative has the support of the municipal company Futurlagos.
