Chamber supports Portimão Surf Club

Portimão Surf Clube and Portimão City Council have established a protocol regarding the use of spas in the Praia da Rocha sports area.

The partnership is valid for one year and is matched by the club's support for Sports Holidays and adapted sports events. The document was signed on Saturday, 4 October, at the club's presentation party, which took place precisely at that location.

“The protocol is extremely important because it allows us to streamline this equipment and create a guardian for this space. The conditions are in place for this partnership to be successful”, commented the vice-president of the Chamber Castelão Rodrigues, who signed the protocol on behalf of President Isilda Gomes.

On the occasion, Portimão Surf Clube offered the president of the municipality a plaque proving the status of honorary member of the club.

The support building for the Praia da Rocha Sports Area has changing rooms that will be available to Portimão Surf Clube members for a year.

The use of this infrastructure is intermittent, always associated with sporting events in summer and almost never used in winter.

“The Chamber is very pleased to provide this facility for a year. Portimão Surf Clube is going to do a good job”, declared Sports Councilwoman Ana Figueiredo at the ceremony.

The signing of the protocol, which was attended by other individuals linked to the port administration, was the highlight of the 'Sunset Party PTMSC', with which the youngest club in Portimão presented itself to society.

Portimão Surf Clube was created last May and has 104 members and is dedicated to promoting surfing, bodyboarding, paddle surfing and skateboarding in the municipality.

The party took place in the afternoon and early evening, with live music and socializing with food and drink, including a pig on a skewer roasted on the beach.

The club provided free surfing, bodyboarding and paddle surfing experiences throughout the afternoon, skateboarding demonstrations and raffles for several prizes, including an SPO surfboard and a Rip Curl rubber suit.
