poster_mackerelA chef from the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School will be present, on October 25, from 10:00 am, at the Municipal Market of Monchique, for a culinary demonstration and tasting, where mackerel is the king ingredient.

This initiative of the «Algarvian mackerel» campaign of the Center for Marine Sciences of the University of Algarve (CCMAR), in collaboration with the Municipality of Monchique, aims to enhance the value of mackerel, one of the most rejected species by the Algarve fleet, to encourage its commercial exploitation, with a view to rational exploitation and to promote generalization for human consumption, thus constituting an asset for this economic sector.

Mackerel is an abundant fish on our coast and its gastronomic characteristics justify its use, being a tasty fish rich in omega 3 fatty acids.

With the motto of sharing tips and innovative recipes and tasting dishes, this initiative has free entry.
