ALBUFEIRA_Fishermen's BeachesAlbufeira is the national tourist destination that dominated the preferences of Portuguese tourists in the first eight months of the year, followed by Lisbon, Portimão, Porto, Vilamoura, Monte Gordo, Lagos, Funchal, Figueira da Foz and Peniche. This is the result of the balance of the tourist year that the trivago site did, now that summer is over.

It has been a year full of awards and distinctions for national tourism and the largest hotel search engine in the world analyzed some of the trends that have contributed to the Portuguese reputation abroad. The most important markets for the national hotel industry and the most popular destinations among Portuguese and foreigners were some of the compiled data.

According to these data, Figueira da Foz and Peniche were the only locations that managed to counter the Algarve's predominance among bathing destinations, placing the central region among the national highlights.

Funchal and Cascais are the cities with the best hotel reputation among those mentioned. Porto, Lagos and Lisbon appear a little below, followed by Vilamoura and Portimão. Faro, Figueira da Foz, Peniche, Albufeira and Monte Gordo complete the second half of the hotel satisfaction ranking.

Among foreign tourists, Lisbon is, unsurprisingly, the most popular Portuguese destination globally. Next are Albufeira, Porto, Portimão, Lagos, Vilamoura, Funchal, Cascais, Faro e Monte Gordo. "The Algarve region thus proves, once again, its importance for national tourism", highlights the trivago in your analysis.

The foreigners who look for Portugal the most are the Spaniards, followed by the British, Germans and French. Irish, Italians, Dutch, Belgians, North Americans and Swedes complete the list.
