Ferreiras_Paulo Sá_Dwellers Neighborhood without ElectricityThe PCP questioned the Government about "the unacceptable cut in the supply of electricity to homes financed by the State, through the IHRU, in Ferreiras, in the municipality of Albufeira", which has been going on since 21 July this year.

A situation that is affecting 28 households, who have already occupied their homes in this neighborhood with 38 dwellings. The communist deputy elected by the Algarve Paulo Sá was on Sunday at the site to meet the residents of the controlled-cost housing district, built with State funding, and denounced what he considers "an unacceptable situation".

The residents of the cost-controlled houses were forced to use the electrical energy of the work, while they waited for the construction company of the project to initiate the energy certification process for the houses, but they ended up seeing the electricity cut, without this process being completed. . For this, they paid a monthly fee to the contractor.

According to the communists, the owners of the houses, selected through a competition launched by the Municipality of Albufeira, began to inhabit them in September 2013. «However, they soon found that the electrical installations of their houses were not certified, so they could not contract, with a distribution company, the supply of electricity», describes the Parliamentary Group of the PCP.

"However, while they were waiting for the company Imosoudos to initiate the certification process, they consumed electricity from the work in their homes, paying the contractor around 40 euros a month, on average, per home," they added. But, in January 2014, the construction company «began to demand from each resident, for the consumption of electrical energy at the work, amounts in excess of 100 euros a month».

Group-Parliamentary-PCP“Residents, outraged, refused this imposition by Imosoudos and demanded that the electrical installations be certified, in accordance with legal procedures, in order to be able to contract, with a distribution company, the supply of electricity to their homes. Imosoudos did not proceed with the certification of electrical installations and the electricity distribution company cut off the supply on July 21, 2014», add the communists, in their presentation to the Government.

«Furthermore, the works are not yet fully completed (the space surrounding the 38 dwellings is lacking) and the facades, roofs and interior of the houses are already showing signs of degradation. Residents tried to contact Imosoudos so that the works could be completed and repairs to the facades, roofs and interior of the houses could be carried out, but without success», according to the PCP.

The Communist Parliamentary Group is now asking for a swift intervention by the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU), which commissioned the work in 2010 and financed it, which, they say, did not respond to the requests made by the residents, in order for it to resolve the situation.

«Thus, the Parliamentary Group of the PCP questioned the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (attached question), requesting justification for the fact that the IHRU, before the cut in the supply of electricity to residents of housing financed by the State under the regime of Housing Development Contract, not to have intervened in order to put an end to this unacceptable situation», revealed the Parliamentary Group of the PCP.

It also requires a «justification for the fact that the IHRU has allowed the sale of houses financed by it without the electrical installations having been previously certified, and that, after the sale of the houses, it did not intervene in order to guarantee a speedy certification of electrical installations and have allowed the situation to drag on for more than a year”.
