Olhão European Car Free Day 2014Olhão is going to join the European Car Free Day, which is marked on September 21, and adds a solidary aspect to this initiative of an environmental nature. The PSP of Olhão, in collaboration with the local authority, will organize a day full of activities at Jardim Pescador Olhanense and asks participants to "pay" the registration with non-perishable food items, to distribute to the county's social solidarity institutions, which must be delivered to the Town Hall by September 19th.

Throughout the day, there will be spinning, dancing, martial arts, zumba, inflatables, boxing, as well as a 15-kilometre bike ride and a five-kilometre walk/walk, in this initiative whose motto will be “Close and solidarity with the population”.

The secretariat, in front of the PSP in Olhão, in Jardim Pescador Olhanense, opens at 8 am, and 45 minutes later the little ones can play in the fun zone installed there. This is followed by the warm-up and the first activity: the 15-kilometre mountain bike ride through the city (09:15 am). Shortly thereafter, the march/run begins (09:30 am) on a five-kilometre route, also urban.

From 10 am there will be demonstrations of sporting activities and at 12 pm Olympic athletes and former cycling practitioners will be honored. Hundreds of students from the city's schools then participate in the human composition of the words PSP Olhão. The event ends with a mega zumba class.

Interested parties can register at the Town Hall, Police Station of Olhão, Parish Councils of Olhão, Quelfes and Pechão and at the Sportinguista Leões de Olhão Nucleus. Upon delivery of the food, which represents the registration, participants will be given a password that will allow them to exchange, on the day of the event, for a bag with various items to participate in this European Day Without Cars Solidarity.
