john lambJoão Cordeiro, fisherman of Sport Clube Escanxinas de Almancil, was crowned world champion in the surfcasting fishing modality, in the Championship of Nations, which takes place in France.

In this way, the municipality of Loulé sees yet another athlete winning an international title as a result of a work that has been carried out by local sports associations, without forgetting the support that the Municipality has given to local sports development.

In this competition, the national team achieved the title of world vice-champion.

Surfcasting is aimed at beach fishing in rough sea situations. Surfcasting, launching into the surf, requires jagged beaches characterized by a great inconstancy of their profile and high frequency of rough seas.

It is under these conditions that some of the fish look for food. With a good swell, the waters are well oxygenated and the bottom of the beach is disturbed enough to make the fish look for food.

For this type of fishing it is not enough to have good technique and good material; although they are essential, practice, observation of the sea and accumulation of experiences are much more important. A beach fisherman, to get good results, has a good carbon rod, a reel with good wire output, uses appropriate lines for the reel and is able to place the sinker away from the beach.
