The play «Otelo» will be on stage tomorrow, Saturday, at Cineteatro Louletano, from 21 pm. The Chilean theater company “Viaje Inmóvil” is responsible for this show, a version for actors and puppets of the classic by William Shakespeare. The show has subtitles in Portuguese.
In “Othello”, the audience is questioned “about human behavior in situations of adversity and conflict”. “Revenging himself for not being promoted, lago convinces Othello that Desdemona, his beautiful young wife, betrays him with Cassio, newly appointed lieutenant. Instigated by lago and disturbed by jealousy, Othello runs into the greatest tragedy of passion of all times», describes the Câmara de Loulé.
The cast of the play is composed of Teresita Lacobelli and Jaime Lorca, who, together with Christián Ortega, adapted and staged the text by the English playwright.
This is the third show of a Chilean theater cycle that has been held in Loulé, the result of a pioneering partnership in the region between the Cine-Teatro Louletano, the Programa Perto Futuro, of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Santiago a Mil Festival, in a co-production by the Foundation International Festival of Theater a Thousand.
