port of Faro_cementthe port of Faro registers, this week, one of its "most intense periods of operation", with the parking of 20.000 tonnes of cement, motivating a high occupation of the quay and use of available resources, announced the Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve (APS) .

The cement, produced by the Cimpor factory in Loulé, will be exported by sea to Algeria, in North Africa.

“The cargo is being transported to its final destination by ships, representing a period of high intensity of movement to the port”, explains APS.

The movement of this amount of cargo represents more than 1.000 trucks received at the pier.

APS recalls that cement is one of the main commodities of the world, often used as an economic indicator, being the main commodity handled in the port of Faro.
