tom sykesTom Sykes (Kawasaki) earned this Saturday afternoon the pole position for the Superbike World Championship race in Portimão, the 22nd of his career, the third in a row.

One of the superpoles very disputed, with several drivers passing through the top of the table. Sykes occupied 9th place when he suddenly took 1st place ahead of Jonathan Rea (Honda) and Chaz Davies (Ducati).

As for the EVO class riders, Sylvain Barrier was the fastest, occupying the 10th position.

In the end, Tom Sykes couldn't hide his satisfaction with this result: “We had small problems with the settings, which we managed to resolve throughout the session. This result is important, but more important is winning the races tomorrow. We will do our best to achieve this”.

 

Supersport – Sofuoglu in front

Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki) showed again in Supersport qualifying that he is one of the favorites to win the category in Portimão.

The Turkish driver, who has been on the podium several times in the Algarve, is on the right path to another victory in Portugal. He was always among the fastest in the free practice sessions and once again surpassed Michael VD Mark (Honda), who took second place, and Jules Cluzel (MV Augusta), who took third position on the front line. .

 

Superstock 1000, Superstock 600 and European Junior Cup

In the Superstock 1000, Lorenzo Salvadori (Kawasaki) won the pole. At the European Junior Cup, Javier Orellana confirmed the pole position, while the only Portuguese driver, David Ferreira, managed to improve his position up to 13th place and it is expected that, in a race, he will be able to recover even more places.

The Superstock 600 has already run the weekend race with Wayne Tessels (Suzuki) coming out of the pole and finishing second behind Marco Faccani (Kawasaki), the winner.
