Trail Running competitions will reach the interior of the Algarve and will soon have the international label. Salir, in the municipality of Loulé, hosts on August 16 the event «Ultra Trilhos Rocha da Pena», which brings athletes from across the country and across borders to the Algarve.
An event that «follows the national phenomenon of running in contact with nature and aims to promote the interior through sport, showing its natural beauties, in this case, around the Protected Landscape of Rocha da Pena».
This will be the first activity of a competitive nature resulting from the “Quer-trail running” project, one of the ideas that is seeking to grow and become a business in the second phase of the «Querença Project».
The competition will feature three courses, with different distances and difficulties: The most demanding, will have a length of 50 kilometers, the intermediate difficulty will cover 25 kilometers and, for those who are not used to this sport but want to try, there will be a 12-kilometre walk, of a playful nature.
Those interested in participating must register by the 1st of August, on the organization's website, where you can also find more information about the event.
The Ultra Trail Rocha da Pena has the support of the Municipality of Loulé, the Parish Council of Salir, the Union of Parishes of Querença, Tôr and Benafim, the Cultural Association of Salir and the IPDJ. It also has the support of several companies, such as Ispot, Cicatriz and LCPA.
