LagosThe deadline for completing the paving works that are taking place in the Historic Center of Lagos, and which should have ended in June, was extended until 5 September.

According to the Municipality of Lagos, this intervention aims to correct the pavement of some of the streets in the historic center of the city, which are in worse condition, with a view to improving their road and pedestrian accessibility.

The municipality emphasizes that "although, in some arteries, the paving works are already completed, it was necessary to extend the deadline for completion of the works until early September, since some constraints were detected during the work in question, only now possible to assess in its full scope'.

Among these constraints, the Municipality speaks of the «difficulties in accessing machinery and equipment to some streets targeted for intervention», as well as the fact that «the contractor cannot intervene, simultaneously, in more than one street, in order not to affect car and pedestrian traffic in the area'.

According to the project planning, the streets covered are: Rua Conselheiro Joaquim Machado; Rua da Torrinha; Rua Dr. Faria e Silva; Rua Dr. António José de Almeida; Rua dos Ferreiros; Rua dos Peixeiros; Rua 1º de Maio; Rua da Oliveira; Rua da Laranjeira; Rua da Amendoeira, Rua do Paiol; Rua do Jogo da Bola and Largo da Porta do Postigo.

The Municipality of Lagos, stating that it is «aware of the inconvenience that these works will cause to residents and users of those arteries of the old town, calls for the understanding and collaboration of everyone» during the course of the work.
