o2 portimaoO2-Portimão, which participated with 18 swimmers, was the best club in the Algarve in the XVI National Swimming Masters Championships, held in Évora, with the participation of swimmers from clubs across the country over 25 years old.

The team from Portimo, which obtained an 11th place (336 points) overall, also saw its men's team rank 8th. They achieved seven National Champion titles with a national record, by Luís Cavaleiro Madeira, in the 50 Costas, 11 Vice-Champion titles and 11 bronze medals for the Algarve club.

Also participating in this event were Portinado, which was classified in 12th (298 points), Louletano, in 46th (27 points), and Clube de Natação de Lagos, in 46th (21 points).

The highlights of the O2-Portimão team were Manuel Edgar Soares (one gold, one silver and three bronzes), António Costa Raposo (one silver and one bronze), Luís Cavaleiro Madeira (one RN gold and three silvers), Bruno Miguel Ruas ( two golds, two silvers), Paulo Alexandre Sousa (three bronzes), Filipe Bjorke dos Santos (one silver), João Manuel Ruas (one silver), Ana Luena Sousa (one gold) and Graça Sousa, with two National Champion titles. In the 4 x 50 Freestyle relays, the O2 team got a bronze medal.

The Championship was attended by 51 clubs and 524 swimmers.

O2 intends to consolidate this Master Swimming project, having already requested from the Municipality of Portimão, spaces for training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Alvor Sports Complex for the time.
