The current European record holders for adapted swimming, Filipe Santos (O2-Portimão) and José Vieira (Louletano), are two of the swimmers who will compete, on June 7th and 8th, in the National Summer Swimming Championship, which will take place in the swimming pool of the Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex.

Filipe Santos and José Vieira are currently preparing their participation in the Down Syndrome World Championship, which will take place next November in Mexico.

This National Summer Championship is organized by the association O2–Portimão and ANDDI – National Association of Sports for Intellectual Disabilities.

The event counts on the participation of 18 institutions and clubs from all over the country, which will be represented by a hundred swimmers.

The National Championship has the support of the Portimão City Council in the provision of the swimming pool, the Bemposta Schools Group for meals at the Mexilhoeira Grande School EB 2,3, of Analgarve (Algarve Swimming Association) regarding arbitration and the Youth Hostels, at the level of accommodation for all athletes and coaches.

O2–Portimão, which last May launched the XNUMXst Triathlon of Alvor – Valter Pais, wants the competition to contribute to the development of adapted swimming in the Algarve and that more institutions and clubs start this modality.

The National Championship will be accompanied in the Facebook page of the event.
