The International Sport Fishing Competition on the Guadiana River returns to Castro Marim on June 22, to show that the largest river in southern Portugal has valuable fish and also tourist potential. Portuguese and Spanish fishermen will be present at an event that is intended to be «competitive and of healthy coexistence». The gathering is scheduled for 8 am, next to the departure piers in Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim.

«The sporting event, which takes place on the Guadiana river, between the entrance to the creek in the village of Castro Marim and the quay of Quinta do Vale, on Monte Francisco, will have 30 to 35 boats and a hundred participants for a journey of large fisheries», announced the Castro Marim Chamber, which supports the wind organized by the Castro Marim Sport Fishing Association.

The teams of Portuguese and Spanish fishermen, participating in the VIII International Sport Fishing Competition, will seek to obtain the greatest quantity of fish in the waters of the Guadiana River, from sea bass to the ball, passing through the sea bream, with a view to winning the first places in the classification.
