JSD/Portimão thanks, «on behalf of all conscientious Portimão», the «support and example of the Government led by Pedro Passos Coelho to the Portimão municipality through the Municipal Support Fund (FAM) which will fill the lead, by the Court of Auditors, to access to the PAEL of the Municipality of Portimão».
In a statement signed by Carlos Gouveia Martins, from the Political Council of that structure, the young social democrats underlined that «it is national knowledge, and that any young, or less young, from Portimonense is very “ashamed” by the ruinous management and wastefulness carried out by consecutive socialist executives in Portimão».
«The socialist mismanagement in Portimão is so evident that it is even proven by a socialist mayor, Manuel Machado, leader of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities, by not being in favor of this support granted to a management that shames any Municipality», underlines the statement.
Despite this, JSD/Portimão welcomes the wisdom of the PSD/CDS Government in “saving” Portimonenses from the eternal mismanagement of the PS in our Autarchy, strongly supported by 40 years full of practical examples, appealing to the mostly socialist executive of Portimão, don't shame the good name of our Municipality again».
For the young social democrats of Portimão, «the situation of the municipality of Portimão mirrors the national reality: when the PS assumes power, it enters into a spiral of absolutely unsustainable spending, due to its own agendas, and what remains for the PSD, currently in alliance with the CDS in the Government, saving the Country and now also the Municipality of Portimão».
“We all applaud these consecutive “bailouts” that the PSD has made, but it is essential to explain to the population that, by facing the debts that the PS leaves behind, it is obligatory to move towards austerity”, the statement emphasizes.
«Portimão and Portugal, deserve respect in order to recover the external credibility that the PS took from us. We hope that the people will wear the life-saving vest in all the electoral acts that will follow, and that the PS will not be allowed to sink the country and our city, Portimão, again!” he concludes.
