The 2014 MED festival will focus on preserving the environment, encouraging visitors to join the “Eco-Kopo” to avoid such a high consumption of plastic cups. The World Music Festival, which runs from 25 to 28 June in the historic area of Loulé, introduces the concept of a reusable cup, which can be “rented” for one euro at the ticket office and on stands throughout the venue.

The process is, moreover, quite simple. The visitor buys a glass for one euro, which he can reuse as often as he likes. If you want to exchange it, just go to one of the newsstands of the young company «Eco-Kopo» to do it free of charge. In the same places, you can retrieve the value of the container, if you don't want to use it anymore. Everything, following the motto: “a glass in your hand is better than a thousand on the floor”.

The cups in question "are made of 100 percent recyclable material, unlike plastic cups that have a negative impact on the environment." "According to studies, reusable cups are 25 times less polluting than disposable cups and 20 times less polluting than biodegradable cups," according to the Câmara de Loulé, which organizes the MED Festival.

The partnership with “Eco-Kopo” will also be “a way to minimize the amount of waste in the venue by around 80 percent, thus making the MED Festival cleaner and more environmentally friendly”.

The introduction of this novelty will also be an advertising solution, as it will be a means of communication, as the Festival program will be engraved on the glass, as well as the QR Code for accessing the official MED website.
