“Xutos & Pontapés” return this year to Fatacil, in Lagoa, after having been absent from the poster in 2012 and 2013, much to the displeasure of their many fans. Tim and Zé Pedro's band is even chosen to close, on August 24, the concerts of what intends to become once again the biggest fair in the South of the Tagus and which this year presents a luxury program.

The poster features António Zambujo (15 August), UHF (16), Dolinda (19), Ana Moura (22), Pedro Abrunhosa (23), and also Richie Campbell (17), Bon Giovi - Tribute to Bon Jovi (18) ) and Lucky Duckies (20).

In a message sent to the organization, the Xutos underlined that “once again we are pleased to return to the Stage of Fatacil which, in 2014, is celebrating 35 years, just like us. Passing through the easy. It's always a party, it's a great pleasure to return to the Fair, which does so much for promoting Portugal's gastronomy, handicraft, music and industry».

But the news does not stop there, for the event that runs from 15 to 24 August. The first is the price: tickets have dropped in price and now cost just 3,5 euros, giving access not only to the fair and all its activities and entertainment, but also to concerts.

At the press conference for the presentation of the easy, which took place on Monday aboard the catamaran «Ophelia», off the coast of Lagoa, the responsible for Fatasul, the organizing entity, and the Câmara de Lagoa underlined that «understanding the economic difficulties facing the country and that are reflected in the in the population, basically the one that gives us the reason for holding Fatacil”, it was decided to lower the price in order to “contribute to expanding the possibility of bringing more people, giving an ever-greater dimension” to the event.

The number of present companies from Lagoa increases

After, in recent years, Fatacil lost its importance as a showcase of the local and regional economy, in 2014 the presence of «two dozen companies from Lagoa» is already guaranteed, namely some from the local hotel industry, while «75 % of the entire exhibition area' is already sold. This is, for those responsible, a “guarantee of success”.

In addition, they underlined, there will be a "different approach to the quality and selection of commercial stands", probably to avoid repeating what happened in the two previous editions, in which prime spaces of the fair were occupied, as a last resort, by sellers of socks and shoes.

New will also be the new structure of the equestrian sector and the “resizing” of the “Amar a Terra” space, under the responsibility of the Algarve Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries.

More space will be made available for this sector, thus allowing “to extend the participation to productions from other areas, namely fishery products, the forest and the production of cheeses, which are beginning to have some significance in the region”.

Over the past few years, Fatacil's agricultural sector has undergone changes, fewer animals and the appearance of Algarve aromas and flavors and, according to DRAP do Algarve, there is a lack of knowledge, which will soon arrive.

«It was a gamble. The Algarve gained a new promotional space at its biggest event and the agricultural sector gained many visitors and provided a place of business for primary sector producers in the region. Today the biggest problem is to satisfy everyone, but what may seem like a weak point at the outset, it is, indeed, a strong point, forcing us to be more judicious in the selection of candidacies, always opting for the best recognized quality, also allowing to bring innovative products at the fair», explained Lino Camacho, from DRAP.

Children and families will have their own entertainment space

The newest visitors to Fatacil will also have a space dedicated to them, in order to encourage visits by families. Thus, there will be an area of one thousand square meters in the enclosure, where entertainment for children and other surprises will be developed.

With Antena 1, Antena 3 and RTP as media partners, in order to give «greater visibility to the Fair», on the opening day, on the 15th of August, the television program «Verão Total» will be broadcast directly from Lagoa, between 10 am and 18 pm.

In parallel, there will also be the “VI Algarve Wine Contest”, Wine Tasting and commented cooking demonstrations, Regional Honey Contest, colloquia (Wine and Health and Potential of the Algarve Sea), a conference on the Mediterranean Diet, the cycle by Tertúlias Fatacil and an informative mural on the Portuguese Maritime Zone.

Finally, the poster of the artists who will parade on stage 2 is missing, whose poster is composed of musicians from the region, thus contributing to the dissemination of artistic, cultural, ethnographic values, such as Pedro Frias Band, Beto Kalulu, José Praia and Áqua Viva, Joana Rodeira, Ricardo Sousa, Luís Vieira, Benvindo Barros, Folequestra, Grupo de Cantares do Parchal and Fonte Nova, and also a fado night with Pedro Viola, Cremilde, Helder Coelho and Ana Marques.

The commercial partners of the 35th edition of Fatacil are the companies and entities Slide & Splash, Cafés Delta, Caixa de Crédito Agrícola, Sociedade Central de Cervejas (Sagres), Algarve Tourism, Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries, Rações Zêzere and Repsol Gás.
