Hong Kong market is already the right destination for the reborn “La Rose” canned food

The “La Rose” preserves re-launched last Saturday by Ramirez & Cª (Filhos) SA in its place of origin, the former Feu Hermanos factory, which has been transformed into the Museum of Portimão for six years, is destined for the national market, but above all, the international market.

Manuel Ramirez (son) revealed to Sul Informação that «Hong Kong is one of the markets where “La Rose” is already going».

«We have several brands active in the world, contacts on five continents. I think that within two months it will be possible to have “La Rose” in the Eastern market», he added.

For now, Ramirez is going to produce, in its factories in Matosinhos, in the North of Portugal, 100 cans of the reborn brand, in sardine, tuna, mackerel and specialty varieties, for the national market.

And will «La Rose» be a brand for the market good gourmet food? «I would say yes, but sometimes the good gourmet food with the expensive and not so. We have a brand, La Cocagne, which is the leader in Belgium. It is associated with the good gourmet food, but it is a leader in sales».

As for the Portuguese market, Manuel Ramirez recalls that “there is a fashion for conserves in Lisbon, Porto, Alentejo, Algarve. There is a great desire to go back to consuming what is traditional Portuguese and the preserves are included there. The crisis has also brought new opportunities and, therefore, we have every chance of being successful».

What are the sales expectations in Portugal? «Very interesting, because, for the good of Portimão and the country, “La Rose”, after having ceased to be produced in the 70s, was maintained and promoted in this Museum, with great affection. The brand and its strength are in people's minds».

However, he stresses, "it is a very important brand to impose itself in exports." «Now we have to materialize all this in sales».
