Cine-Teatro Louletano hosts, for the second consecutive year, from May 16th to 18th, the 8 ½ Italian Film Festival, an event that brings together a selection of the most relevant Italian cinematographic productions from the last season, whether by renowned authors or the new generation of filmmakers, always faithful to the goal of bringing the best of Italian cinema to Portugal.

The event starts on Friday, the 16th, at 21 pm, with a brilliant parody on the world of Italian politics.

“Viva a Liberdade”, by Roberto Andò, is an extraordinary and intriguing work that marks the return of political cinema that shows how “the truth is always revolutionary”. It stars the hilarious Toni Servillo, lead actor of the award-winning “A Grande Beleza”.

On Saturday afternoon, the 17th, at 16:30 pm, an Italian language workshop will take place “Italiano per principiante”. It is aimed at everyone who has always wanted to learn Italian but never had the courage to start. 8 ½ will give this opportunity with a free Italian language and culture workshop. As requirements: willingness and willingness to learn.

This is followed, at 18 pm, with the screening of the film “The Special Need”, by Carlo Zoratti, an Italian-German co-production. Enea is an autistic young man who has never had a sexual relationship and wants to have it. As there is no legal solution in Italy to satisfy this desire, Enea decides to travel with two friends in search of the key to explore her feelings and desires. This film is the ex-Aqueo winner of the Festa do Cinema Italiano 30.

At night, from 21 pm, “La Mafia Uccide solo d'Estate”, by Pierfrancesco Diliberto, will be on stage. A new and unlikely way to portray the Mafia. A 30-year-old tale of Arturo's attempts to win the heart of his beloved Flora. In a tender and fun setting, this Sicilian chronicle takes place between the 20s and 70s. This film is also the winner of the Festa do Cinema Italiano 90.

At the end of the Festival, on Sunday, at 16:30 pm, 8 ½ presents “Il Corto”, the most interesting and curious works in short format that experiment with different languages ​​and freely express ideas and suggestions.

The ironic animations of Astutilo Smeriglia, the fantastic love story of “Zini and Ami” and the award-winning works of Adriano Valerio (“37°4 S”) and Piero Messina (“La prima legge di Newton”). Without forgetting the dream drawn by Simone Massi (“Animo Resistente”), the surprising documentary by Salvatore Mereu (“Transumanza”) and the most narrative “La Genesi de Donatella Altere”.

“Zoran, my inherited nephew”, by Matteo Oleorro is presented at 18:30 pm. Paolo Bressan, a 40-year-old man, spends his days in a tavern near Gorizia, on the Slovenian border. Everything changes when Zoran appears, a strange 15-year-old boy that Paolo 'inherits' from a distant Slovenian relative. At first not comfortable with the idea of ​​being an uncle, he quickly sees Zoran's talent for throwing darts. Every year, the world darts championship awards €60, and Paolo has no intention of passing up this opportunity. This is the award-winning film from the audience of the Festa do Cinema Italiano 2014.

And to close this edition of the Festa do Cinema Italiano, the film “A Grande Beleza”, by Paolo Sorrentino, will be screened.

Jep Gambardella: 75 years old, fascinating man and powerful journalist, 'king' who seduces and punishes Rome's decadent bourgeoisie thanks to his keen intelligence and disenchanted irony.
