Twelve police officers from the District Command of Faro of PSP, who attended the Portuguese Sign Language Course, received their professional training certificates yesterday.

This training course, which took place between the 12th of February and the 8th of May, «complied with the objectives initially outlined, thus providing the police with knowledge, in the initiation of Sign Language, aiming in this way to improve communication, interaction and quality in the assistance to the deaf community».

Thanks to the good results of this first course, the PSP District Command intends to «continue the partnership in the near future, to extend this knowledge to more police officers».

The course was promoted by the District Command of Faro by the Public Security Police, within the scope of the Algarve – Destino Seguro project, and by the association Gestinesquecivel – Association for the Inclusion of the Deaf.
