More than 20 companies were created following the contest «Ideias em Caixa», promoted by the University of the Algarve (UAlg) since 2003. This is the legacy of the 15 winners of the 4th edition of the contest, which will be announced on Friday, 9 May, they will receive, as well as various awards to help them join this number.

The 2013/14 edition of the competition is reaching its conclusion, after intense work by the candidates and by CRIA – UAlg's Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division, which organizes the initiative.

The announcement of the winners will be held during the last conference «Made in Algarve», of the CCDRA, which takes place on Friday, May 9th (Europe Day), at 14 pm, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

The coordinators of «Ideias em Caixa» had the difficult task of choosing, in a first phase, the 50 best proposals from a total of 161 applications and, in a second phase, the 15 projects with the greatest potential, after having matured by their promoters. .

In addition to the awards for the 15 best projects in the competition – business coaching, corporate image development, web design services, hosting and domain registration (1 year), virtual incubation, accounting support (6 months) and ANJE associate registration (1 year) -, this year the organization decided to award an additional prize to the winning project, corresponding to a grant of 4800 euros.

«With the attribution of these awards, UAlg intends to give a significant boost to the start-up of the companies that will be born from this initiative», illustrated the university.

«Ideias em Caixa» has been attracting more and more interest among those who have business ideas that they would like to make a reality, as shown by the figures.

In this last edition, there were 161 applications, which raised to 260 the number of ideas submitted to this competition, in the four editions already held.

An exponential increase in the number of applications that “forced” CRIA to take 50 proposals to the second phase, in which intensive training is given to promoters so that their initial ideas can mature and re-present them in a more elaborate way. Initially, it was planned to be only 30.
