More than 300 people cycled in favor of the responsible use of water, on the I Water Route Tour of the company Águas do Algarve, which took place on Sunday in Silves. This was an action that, in addition to raising awareness of the need to preserve water, wanted to promote «excellent water supplied in the region by Águas do Algarve», according to that company.

Organized by the Xelb club, the tour passed through the three dams on the western Algarve – Arade, Funcho and Odelouca – on two routes of different length, one with 35 kilometers and the second with 60. The initiative ended with a lunch with all the athletes and volunteers.

«Our Algarve mountain range allowed us to define routes of high natural beauty, but also with the recognized need for a good physical training for all participants, who had, without exception, magnificent participations in two events of high physical effort. There were no dropouts!”, stressed Águas do Algarve.

In the end, motivational prizes were distributed in the female and male classes, for the first 3 places, in the two stages.

The race could have had more than about 300 participants. «Almost twice the number of those who contacted us after the registration was closed so that they could do it after the time was right, but this was not possible. To all of these, including those who were unable to register in time (there being the possibility of the next edition), we can only congratulate them for their interest in this action», according to the Algarve public company.
