Algar will be present and actively contribute to the sack collection campaign of the Contar a Fome Food Bank (BACF), which will take place on the 31st of May and the 1st of June. The company will have two teams on the ground, one of which is part of the administration, who will provide support at the BACF do Algarve warehouse in Faro and in the collection and transport of goods collected from commercial areas.

«On May 31, ALGAR will be represented with two teams, one of which is part of the ALGAR administration and will be at the BACF warehouse in Faro, a place for the reception and storage of the collected food and the second team will ensure the collection and transport of the food collected in the commercial areas to the respective warehouses of the Food Bank of the Algarve, located in Portimão and Faro. For this purpose, the company has already provided 3 of its vehicles», revealed Algar.

With this gesture of social responsibility, Algar says it wants to demonstrate "its concern for the socio-economic development of the Algarve region".

This corporate volunteer action launched by the Algarve multi-municipal company, responsible for the recovery and treatment of solid waste in the region, joins the campaign "Separar para Alimentar", which Algar is promoting in partnership with the Entrajuda association, whose beneficiary is, also, to the BACF of the Algarve.

The aim is to capture the greatest number of plastic, metal and ECAL packaging (cardboard packaging for liquid foods, such as milk or juice cartons). The income from this material reverts to the purchase of foodstuffs for children up to 3 years old supported by the BACF do Algarve.

In the case of this campaign, the BACF can even win twice, since «many of the packages that are delivered to the Food Bank as part of the national collection to be held on May 31 and June 1, are plastic (packaging of rice, pasta and others), metal (cans of beans, tuna, others) ECAL (packages of milk, others)'. If they are returned to Algar, as part of the “Recycle for Food”, more food will be given in exchange to the charity.
