The alliance «Save Faro, with the Heart” (CFC-SF) criticized the imminent contracting of a loan of 2,8 million euros, by the Chamber of Faro, to fulfill the financial commitments to the Polis Ria Formosa Society, or, as they say, “for demolitions”. For the movement, the money will serve to sacrifice not only those who will be affected by the renaturalizations, but all the residents, who will pay “a high financial bill”.

The loan proposal was taken to the Municipal Assembly of Faro last week and was approved, with votes in favor of the PSD/CDS coalition, in power and the PS. The movement that supported José Vitorino's candidacy for the Chamber of Faro voted against.

«The CFC-SF has always contested the approval of the Polis in 2008 (PS in favor and abstention of the PSD to pass), since there it is clearly determined the demolition of hundreds of houses in Culatra, Hangares, Farothe island of Faro, in areas that are not at risk and in several cases with disrespect for historical rights. The solution is the requalification of spaces and regularization of housing", reveals «Save Faro, with the heart".

At the time of the vote, the CFC-SF stressed that "it is unacceptable" that a municipality with a "very high liability", gives this amount of money "for the State to demolish", even more when some of them are "in areas of the Water Domain, which are the property of the State'.

“The local authority accepts the sacrifice of the citizens affected by the demolitions and sacrifices the citizens in general, with another high financial bill”, accused the movement.

“For all this, the facts show that the process of demolitions has been facilitated by the great local forces, which should not have happened. Unfortunately and to the detriment of the image of public life, to deceive citizens, the large traditional parties make inflamed speeches and go on saying they are against it, but, in concrete, in three terms they have voted in favor and made the process more and more irreversible." concludes.
