Sérgio Godinho takes the stage of the Cine-Teatro Louletano on April 17, at 21 pm, to present his show “Liberdade”.

“Freedom is of all the words and concepts I use in my life, and by drag in the songs, the one I care for the most and defend the most, the one that gives the north its compass,” said Sérgio Godinho.

In this show, the singer-songwriter reviews, through his repertoire, the forty years of democratic Portugal. From committed music, a flag of causes and social conscience, to an intimate and plural diary, a vision of ourselves based on the work of one of the most important creators of the imagination of the last four decades.

Poet, composer and interpreter, Sérgio Godinho perfectly personifies his music “O Homem dos 7 Instruments”. Multifaceted, he has already acted in films, television series and plays. Dramaturgy appears with the signature of some theater plays, also assuming himself as a director.

At the age of 20, he leaves Portugal, turning his back on the colonial war. Remains nine years away from the country. His greatest connection is with the French capital, Paris, where he joined the cast of the musical “Hair” for two years and began to sketch his first songs, making contact with other Portuguese musicians, such as José Mário Branco, Zeca Afonso and Luís Cília . He also passed through Amsterdam, Brazil and Vancouver.

In 1971, he collaborated on José Mário Branco's first solo album, “Mudam-se temps, shifts as wills”, and in the same year he made his record debut by recording, on French soil, the LP Os survivors. He also recorded in exile the album Pré-histórias, in 1972.

Although constantly censored, these albums managed to achieve popularity among the Portuguese public the following year, and the press even awarded Sérgio as “Author of the year” and “Os Sobreviventes” as “Disc of the year”.

In Canada, it establishes itself in a community hippie in Vancouver, and it is here that he receives the news of the April 25 revolution, which takes him back to Portugal.

Back in Portuguese lands, he edited the album “À burn-out” (1974), a success that made him travel the country, performing in popular demonstrations, frequent after the 25th of April. Since then his career has not stopped; two of his most acclaimed songs are “It's Tuesday” and “With a little sparkle in your eyes”. He is, without a doubt, one of the most important names in the Portuguese music scene.

Tickets cost 10 euros.

This is another initiative included in the commemorative program of the 40th anniversary of the 25th of April, jointly organized by the Municipality of Loulé and the Commemorations Council of the 40th anniversary of the 25th of April.
