The Algarve Wine Route will be made known on the 14th and 16th of April, between 15 pm and 00 pm, in the arrivals area of the Airport of Faro.

Thus, tourists who land at this airport will be invited to taste the Algarve's wines and to visit and walk the trails of the route, offering them the Passport Rota dos Vinhos do Algarve 2014.

The Passport is a personal and non-transferable document, in Portuguese and English, also available in PDF at Algarve Wine Route website.

The promotional action at the Airport of Faro is promoted by the CVA – Algarve Wine Commission with the support of the Algarve Tourism Region, which invests in the Gastronomy and Wines product to reduce seasonality in the tourist destination.

A Algarve Wine Route is already a reality and includes four official itineraries with seven visitable wineries, where tourists and residents are challenged to discover the vineyards and the secrets of wine production, the rich cultural heritage, regional cuisine and, of course, to taste the nectars produced in the region, many of them awarded nationally and internationally.

The Algarve Wine Route is divided into four routes, some including only one winery for now – Gil Eanes Route, which includes Monte da Casteleja, in Lagos, Arade, integrating the Adega Quinta do Francês, in Odelouca (Silves) and Quinta do Morgado da Torre, in Penina (Portimão), Mourisco, with Quinta dos Vales, in Lagoa/Silves, and Quinta de Mata Mouros, in Silves, and also the Roteiro das Falésias, with Adega do Cantor, in Guia (Albufeira), and Quinta da Vinha, in Vala (Silves).

In order to follow the Route without getting lost, tourists – and residents – have at their disposal a passport, a small booklet in Portuguese and English with all the information about the wineries, but also about monuments and museums in the areas covered, restaurants and hotels members of the Route and even on other wine producers, even those who are not (yet) part of this Route.
