Music by noiserv and Júlio Resende, as well as dancing by the Quorum Ballet, are the highlights throughout the month of May at the Municipal Theater of Portimão (Tempo), whose program starts on the 3rd, with a romantic Opera Night.

The show, scheduled for 21:30 pm, is suggestively entitled “Amor e Seduction” and is organized by Associação Ideias do Levante, which invited soprano Carla Pontes, bass-baritone Francisco Brazão and pianist Cristiana Silva to perform arias and duets by important operas, signed by composers such as Pergolesi, G. Donizetti, A. Thomas, G. Verdi, C. Gounod and J. Offenbach, in a light proposal, sometimes comic, sometimes dramatic, costing 8 euros for tickets for this unique performance .

On May 10th, one of the most creative and stimulating musical projects to emerge in Portugal in the last decade will follow: noiserv, the project by David Santos, who has been called “the man-orchestra” or “a man's band only”, released his second album of originals at the end of last year, entitled “Almost Visible Orchestra”, which he now presents in the Grand Auditorium, at 21 pm, with tickets at 30 euros, if purchased in advance, and at 8 euros, if are purchased on the day of the show.

The May program continues with Quorum Ballet, a company that is currently an unavoidable reference in Portuguese contemporary dance and which will present two pieces in the Grand Auditorium, one for the general public (“Nous – Inner Perception”) and another for schools and families – “Alice in Wonderland”.

Choreographed by Daniel Cardoso, “Nous – Inner Perception” will be presented on the 16th, at 21 pm, with ticket prices varying between 30 euros for the counter and 10 euros for the audience.

“Alice in Wonderland” is choreographed by Inês Godinho and will be performed on May 15, at 10:00 am, for schools, with free admission, and on May 17, at 16:00 pm, for families, with tickets at 5 euros for children up to 12 years and 8 euros for the rest of the public.

To celebrate its 28th anniversary, the Academy of Music of Lagos will present on the 23rd the world premiere of “Gilda das Amendoeiras”, a work commissioned from the Algarve composer Nuno Sequeira Rodrigues, with the participation of soloists from the Classical Orchestra of the Academy and the Coro Cant'Arte, under musical direction by João Pedro Cunha, in a show scheduled for the Grand Auditorium, from 21:30 pm, with tickets costing 10 euros.

Cinema will be present on the 30th and 31st of May, through new sessions of Little Children's Films, short films by European directors, aimed at school audiences and families.

The session on the 30th is for schools and is scheduled for 10:00 am, while the session on the 31st, for families, will take place at 16:00 pm, with the Children's Films being shown in the Small Auditorium, with free admission for schools, by appointment , and for the family session, tickets cost 3 euros.

On the last day of May, a concert by one of the greatest Portuguese pianists of today, Júlio Resende, a musician who took on Amália's repertoire and made an intense album, will take place in the Grande Auditório. for the piano, revisiting the most striking themes interpreted by the great diva of Portuguese music.

Having started his journey in jazz, in recent years the pianist has been approaching fado, transforming it into his object of study, and accompanying Vânia Conde, Hélder Moutinho or Aldina Duarte, with tickets for this unmissable show costing 10 euros, which will start at 21 pm.
