How far can we travel in a Museum? What are waves made of? What do the images smell like? What does the bottom of the sea know? What does nature sound like? These are some of the themes that the new project of the Educational Service of the Museum of the Sea and Land of Carrapateira, in Aljezur, wants to lead young visitors to discover.

This new project is part of the «Teachers Mobility Program», in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, among other entities.

By increasing participation and interaction, stimulating imagination, expanding knowledge of the environment, the surrounding territory and promoting collective participation, students and other younger visitors will have the opportunity to explore the museum space and learn about some of its stories .

The objective is to provide a process of discovery and learning aimed at good cultural mediation practices based on dialogue and active participation of the participants, using exploration materials to promote an experienced analysis of the pieces, photographs, situations and surrounding spaces. .

By appointment within the museum's opening hours, from Tuesday to Saturday, between 10:00 am and 17:00 pm, the “Viagem dos Sentidos”, composed essentially for children, invites you to enter the world of travel, exploration and navigations made of beautiful learning and magical complicity at the service of pedagogy.

«Observe, touch, smell, feel and hear… (and) because a story always makes us dream, travel and dive into the world of imagination, we will explore and discover some of its hidden secrets in the museum's corridors».

«Together we are going to discover a very special treasure. With eyes wide open and with a great deal of curiosity, let's make this fantastic adventure an unexpected journey by sea and land through the tracks that are thrown at us along the way to find what we are looking for».

"Come on, sailors, explorers and great adventurers, as this is going to be an extraordinary trip for those who come to explore and sail for the first time in our museum!"
