Infarmed will launch, with «urgency and immediate nature», public tenders for the installation of pharmaceutical stations in Aljezur and Odeceixe, announced the Municipality of Aljezur.

This county has no pharmacy since the two existing ones were closed following investigations by the Judiciary Police into fraudulent drug prescriptions in the National Health Service (SNS).

The inquiry, led by the PJ's National Unit for Combating Corruption, even led to the search and arrest, last January, of ten people across the country, including six doctors and two pharmacists.

The guarantee of the opening of new public tenders for the opening of pharmacies in that county of Costa Vicentina, was given yesterday to the president of the Aljezur Chamber, in a meeting with Eurico Castro Alves, president of the Board of Directors of Infarmed, and Leandro Ponte, director of the Unit of Licensing of this institute.

In a statement, the mayor José Amarelinho welcomes "the posture, sensitivity and speed shown by Infarmed in solving this problem", which came with the closure of pharmacies in Aljezur and Odeceixe. “In the short term, access to medicines in these two locations in the Municipality of Aljezur will be resolved”, concludes the mayor.
