The sea and the land are a source of inspiration for business creation and will set the tone for the next Beta Talk, where the best fish on the Algarve coast and the vegetables, fruits and vegetables of this fertile land are synonymous with entrepreneurship and will play an important role in a surely inspiring conversation.

Pedro Bastos, managing partner and commercial director of Nutrifresco – Comércio e Indústria de Pescados and Fátima Torres, agricultural entrepreneur at Quinta das Seis Marias, who will share with those present their desire to win, and their constant commitment to innovation in their businesses.

Graduated in Biochemistry, Pedro Bastos is responsible for nutrifresh, which he created shortly after completing the course at the University of Algarve, including in his client portfolio some of the best hotels and restaurants in the country, with emphasis on the Michelin stars existing in the Algarve region.

In 1999, when he created his company, he added value to fish distribution, specializing in the acquisition, processing and personalized supply of fresh products from the sea, being able to respond to the greatest demands of top restaurant chefs.

Pedro Nunes, for whom the saying “son of fish knows how to swim” is perfectly applied, as his parents have always been linked to this field, defends with conviction that “a difficulty is always a challenge!”

For her part, and after ten years working as an accountant in Sintra and Madeira, Fátima Torres decided that her future lay in agriculture. He returned to Lagos and revived a family plot known as the Seis Marias (www.quintaseissarias.com), with about six hectares and that owes its name to the fact that the mother and five daughters share the same name.

It converted this space to organic farming and currently produces around 80 varieties of vegetables, various aromatics and some fruits, also having a small shop inside the farm.

Because he has plenty of ideas, he hopes to soon expand the business with an agritourism project where, in addition to accommodation, there will be space for training, as well as an agro-industrial unit to transform the products of the land.
