Sophia de Mello Breyner's work "A Menina do Mar", set to music by Fernando Lopes-Graça, will be in focus at the Promenade Concert that Teatro das Figuras will host next Sunday, April 27, at 12:XNUMX. The Orquestra Clássica do Sul, directed by Cesário Costa, has another concert aimed at families, this time with a XNUMX% national work.

A Girl from the Sea is Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen's first short story for childhood and was published for the first time in 1958. With the beach as its backdrop, this story reveals a story of friendship between a boy and Menina do Mar. Each one lives in their own world, but their curiosity makes them want to share these differences.

Fernando Lopes-Graça composed a musical work inspired by this story, which, on Sunday, will be told by Susana Paixão.

This is the third show of the Promenade cycle «Histórias com Música», which runs from February and lasts until May, with one concert per month. The first two works presented were “Little Tailor” and “Musicians of Bremen”, by the Brothers Grimm, with music by Harsányi and Rogers, respectively. In May, the cycle will close with the famous play «O Pedro eo Lobo», by Prokofiev.

These concerts, designed to be enjoyed with the family, are dedicated to people over 3 years old and cost 5 euros for children under 30 and 10 euros for the general public, with discounts of 25 percent for over 65s and 30 for cent for TMF Friends.
