Lázaro Oliveira stopped being the coach of Portimonense this afternoon. The Algarve club announced on its website the termination with the coach after the recent wave of bad results that complicated the fight for promotion.
In a statement, Portimonense announced the friendly termination of the contract and thanks “all the commitment, dedication, professionalism and selfless manner that [the technical team] have always shown, in favor of Portimonense's interests”.
Portimonense's defeat in Madeira, against União, was the last straw in the relationship between the club and the coach. Portimonense currently occupies the seventh place in the table with 61 points, 1st for Desportivo das Aves, which is sixth and occupies the position that gives access to the play-off dispute of permanence/promotion with the penultimate classified in the Primeira Liga.
