Portimonense wants to leave "an environmental mark on the city" that will last at least the hundred years it celebrates in 2014. To do this, it is going to plant an olive tree at the main entrance of the Municipal Stadium of Portimão, a site that is being remodeled. requalification, in a joint initiative with the Municipality of Portimão.

The tree will be planted at a ceremony scheduled for 10 am tomorrow, where a commemorative tombstone will also be unveiled, in the presence of the mayor of Portimão. Isilda Gomes. The two entities are taking advantage of the first day of Spring, also World Tree Day, which is marked this Friday, to carry out this action.

The initiative is part of the celebrations of the centenary of Portimonense. Oliveira was chosen because it is a «millennial species and, therefore, always connected to its longevity» and the planting of the tree «marks the symbolic recognition of the entire history and identity of the biggest club in Portimão, lived so far and in perspective for the future".
