More than a hundred canoeists from all over the country competed, on Saturday, the 15th, in the National Championship of Ocean Canoeing, in a course of 14 kilometers, starting and finishing at Praia Grande, in Ferragudo.

Athletes from Kayak Clube Castores do Arade won one second, one third and two fourth places.

The competition was organized by the Municipality of Lagoa, through its Sports and Youth Services.

Through this and other similar sporting events, the municipality of Lagos says it aims to «show some of the natural potential of a modern Municipality – with great tourist, cultural and sporting skills, filled with all the conditions to offer moments of leisure and entertainment, with quality and safety – to all lovers of this type of event related to nautical sports, but not only to these».

The Chamber considers, in a press release, that "water sports and golf are, perhaps, those that most captivate because of the conditions they offer for a comforting and prolonged stay in the municipality of Lagoa".

The conviviality, nature and informal practice of canoeing, with the river and the sea as scenarios, were thus in celebration in a municipality where this sport already has deep roots and high expression at national and international level.
