The World Forest and Tree Day was used by the City Council of Loulé to raise awareness among the youngsters about the preservation of nature and respect for the environment. The councilor of Loulé City Council, Ana Machado, accompanied by the assistant to the president, Carlos Carmo, visited different schools to participate in events involving DECO Algarve.

In conjunction with the consumer protection association, the municipality held clarification sessions on the environmental area, with students from the EB1/JI da Abelheira School, in Quarteira, EB1 nº2/JI de Almancil and EB1/JI Vale de Rãs School, in Loule. These actions were developed by the DECO Algarve technician Sandra Rodrigues.

Saving water and electricity, reusing and recycling or preserving nature were some of the issues addressed, with the clear objective of making the youngest aware of the environmental cause, giving them fundamental information to put into practice on a daily basis. -day.

In Almancil, under the motto "Spring in Almancil", a series of activities was also promoted in a partnership between the Municipality of Loulé, the Almancil Parish Council, the grouping of schools in this parish, Infralobo, Infraquinta and Algar .

Students participated in the planting of indigenous trees in schools, an action that aimed to raise awareness of the importance of the forest, both in environmental and ecological balance and in the quality of life itself, involving them in the redevelopment of some of the green spaces in the school and in its surroundings , thus contributing to the improvement of its environmental quality.

Planting actions, visits to the Local Protected Landscape Areas of Fonte Benémola and Rocha da Pena, walking tours and distribution of 200 tree species and awareness-raising material on the environmental theme were other initiatives promoted by the Loulé Council last Friday which aimed to sensitize the population to the importance of preservation and sustainable management of the forest.
