“Intempéries 2014” will take place in the exercise modality with the use of means (LIVEX – Live Exercise) and in the CPX modality (Comand Post Exercise) to test the Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan of Portimão (PME) and will have a scenario. storm likely to generate high material and human damage.

This is intended to be a test of that plan, whose first ordinary review was recently approved by the National Civil Protection Commission.

«The main objectives defined for the exercise, in addition to operational training, will be to operationalize the SME of Portimão, in the component of immediate response, command and information management, to exercise the planning and conduct of an exercise of municipal scope by part of the Municipal Civil Protection Commission, as well as the operational articulation between civil protection agents, cooperating entities and the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Portimão de Portimão», announced the Portimão autarchy.

 

Exercise scenario:

«Between 9 am and 11 am on Wednesday, February 26, the Western Algarve is afflicted by heavy rain, strong wind and thunderstorm that cause multiple personal and material damages in the area of ​​the municipality of Portimão, namely damaged buildings, isolated sites, impassable roads, electricity poles, fallen trees and walls and many crops destroyed, mainly due to the overflow of water courses.

In view of the situation verified and the information received, the Mayor Isilda Gomes determines the convening of the Municipal Civil Protection Commission (CMPC), with a view to analyzing the situation and preparing any measures to be taken, immediately ensuring the direction and coordination of rescue, protection and relief operations,” he continues.

The CMPC will decide on the possible activation of the PME - Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan of Portimão and on the declaration of the alert situation, while the District Command of Relief Operations will Faro The National Civil Protection Authority will be informed of the situation, admitting the need to request reinforcement of personnel and material resources.
