Pedro Soares dos Santos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jerónimo Martins, will be in the Algarve tomorrow to preside over the inauguration of the Group's new Distribution Center in the South, located in Algoz (Silves).
During the inauguration, the operation of the logistics chain of modern distribution will be made known, accompanying, from the producer, in Tavira, to the Distribution Center, in Algoz, the circuit of one of the most emblematic products in the Algarve region: the orange.
The inauguration will be attended by the mayor of Silves, Rosa Palma, as well as other regional entities.
With this infrastructure, the Jerónimo Martins group, owner of the Pingo Doce supermarkets and the Recheio chain, will now have seven distribution centers in mainland Portugal.
Centro de Algoz will supply all Pingo Doce and Recheio stores in the Algarve and part of Alentejo.
The Municipality of Silves stresses, by the way, that "it actively collaborated with the Jerónimo Martins Group towards the realization of the project", which it considers to be "of the greatest importance for the improvement of the municipality's economy", since it will guarantee 130 jobs direct.
