February is the TIME of music, theater and cinema for children in Portimão

After the success of the concert to present Pedro Abrunhosa's latest album, “Contramão”, which filled the Grand Auditorium of TEMPO – Portimão Municipal Theater last Saturday, the February program continues with more proposals in music, theater and movie theater.

On the 5th, the Oficina do Espectador starts this month's program with a musical project based on the stories of Portuguese authors, when the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble presents a concert commented on two stories, one by Hélia Correia and the other by Isabel Minhós Martins, with original music by João Madureira and Pedro Rebelo.

Entitled "Musical Theater for Children", the show will be presented in the Grand Auditorium, at 10:00 am, in a session dedicated to schools, with free entry, in which musical writing and literary writing are combined between sounds and silences, to the rhythm of the narrator , freeing the imagination and reinforcing the discovery of the semantic and poetic meaning of words.

This project follows the tradition of musical works for children, such as “Pedro eo Lobo”, by Sergei Prokofiev, or “The Carnival of the Animals”, by Camille Saint-Saëns.

For the following Saturday, February 8th, TEMPO presents two proposals, one for younger people and the other for grown-ups: at 16 pm, at the Black Box, the piece “Stories around us – Olhos d'água” will be replayed. scene by TIPO – Children's Theater of Portimão, in which three actors, a scenario in which recycled elements dominate, a set of puppets and a designer, propose a journey into History for children over 00 years old, in a session aimed at families and with the ticket for children up to 4 years old for 12 euros and for adults 4 euros.

At 21:30 pm, in the Small Auditorium, “I'm the boss here!” will be screened, a 52-minute documentary that is the first episode of a series about local popular music, entitled “The people who still sing”, by Tiago Pereira .

This first episode is about the Algarve and presents local popular music and its contaminations through accordion players, mandos, travalinguas, linquitinas, dances and a little of the musical practices of the Algarve region, also accompanying organized groups, from ranchos to folk, from hip hop to experimental such as OrbLua, Descaroçados, Reflect and Marenostrum. Admission is free.

On the 21st and 22nd, there will be new sessions of Children's Filminhos, short films by European directors aimed at schools and families, as a result of a partnership between TEMPO and Associação Zero em Comportamento, responsible for organizing the Indie Lisboa Festival.

The 21st session is for schools and is scheduled for 10:00 am and the 22nd session, for families, will take place at 16:00. The Children's Films will be shown in the Small Auditorium and admission is free for schools, by appointment. Tickets for the family session cost 3 euros.

Closing the February schedule, on the 27th, at 21 pm, the Lagos Music Academy presents the Carnival concert “Música Mundi: Brasil” in the Grand Auditorium with Duo Duas Guitarras (Paulo Galvão and João Bandarra) and Duo Fluta e Percussion (Joaquim Galvão and Vasco Ramalho), in a program that will focus on Brazil and themes influenced by the sound of Terras de Vera Cruz.

Tickets cost 6 euros, and children under 12, Youth Card holders, AML members and CMP employees have a 50% discount.
