Banco BIC-Carmim, from Tavira, Louletano-Dunas Douradas, from Loulé, and Clube Xelb, from Silves, are the three Algarve teams that will participate next Sunday, February 16, in the Opening Competition – Cidade de Anadia Trophy, which will compete for the first time played in this city in the center of the country.

The race, totaling 147 kilometers, marks the opening of the road cycling season.

The competition starts at 13:00, in front of the Parish Council of Sangalhos, and is expected to end around 16:30, in Monte Crasto, Anadia, on the second pass through the finish line (the first is scheduled for 16:00).

The goal is placed at the top of a ramp a few hundred meters, but very steep, which could keep some sprinters out of the discussion, even in the case of a platoon finish. An absolute classification and a sub-23 classification will be elaborated.

The platoon will consist of the six continental Portuguese teams – Banco BIC-Carmim, Efapel-Glassdrive, LA Alumínios-Antarte, Louletano-Dunas Douradas, OFM-Quinta da Lixa and Rádio Popular – and the five national club teams, Anicolor, CC José Maria Nicolau, Xelb Club, Liberty Seguros/Feira/KTM and UC Maia/Andrade Bicycles.

The Opening Competition – Cidade de Anadia Trophy will be a test of the condition of the runners of the continental teams, as it takes place three days before the start of the 40th Tour of the Algarve, which will take place from the 19th to the 23rd of this month.
