The Municipality of Vila do Bispo decided, at the Chamber meeting on January 28, to award 52 scholarships and one research scholarship for the 2013/2014 academic year, representing a global value of 171.121 euros.
The amount to be granted to each student varies between 485 and 4.850 euros, depending on the household's income.
These amounts correspond to 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the national minimum wage and are allocated during the months of attendance.
Study grants are intended for students in the municipality, who attend unpaid professional education (level III) and public, private or cooperative secondary/higher education establishments.
Supporting the pursuit of studies by economically disadvantaged and well-performing students who, due to lack of financial resources, would be unable to continue their education and also collaborate in the training of senior technical staff, residing in the county, thus contributing to a greater and more balanced social development , economic and cultural, are some of the objectives of the City Council in allocating these subsidies.
