Ana Cabecinha, from Clube Oriental do Pechão, was highlighted in the 2014 edition of the «Grande Prix des Reis», which took place last Saturday, guaranteeing second place in the main women's competition, having been beaten only by the Finnish Janica Makela.

The 44th edition of the traditional road test, which Faro hosts annually, was also marked by the record number of participants, more than 600 athletes.

With the result she achieved in the competition, the Portuguese Olympic athlete in March Atlética Ana Cabecinha was crowned champion of the Algarve on the road and contributed to the collective title of her Club.

Clube Oriental de Pechão (Olhão) was the winner of the team competition, for the third consecutive year, with a total of 200 points, followed by Clube Areias de São João (Albufeira) which obtained 161 points and Clube Recreativo Alturense (VRSA) with 123 points.

In the main men's competition, won by Kaur Kivist, from Estonia, the best Portuguese was the Algarve's Jorge Varela, from Clube Desportivo Areias de São João, who finished the competition in sixth place. A result that also earned him the title of individual road Regional Champion and helped his club to take second place, in teams.

The “Grand Prix des Reis”, one of the oldest road races that take place in our country, together with the Regional Road Championship, brought together regional, national and from countries like Spain, Estonia, Finland, Russia and Slovenia. Of the more than 600 participants, from different levels, 529 finished the race.
