A traditional crib made of cork, designed by the artisan Alzira Cabrita, will be on display at the João de Deus Museum House (CMJD), in São Bartolomeu de Messines, until 7 January.

From the boy's adoration to the arrival of the Reis Magos, through the representation of monuments and everyday scenes, there are more than a dozen pieces on display.

The crib created by the artisan from Silves was donated to CMJD more than a decade ago, and in 2010 its pieces were restored by Horário Campos Trindade, former collaborator of the Cork Museum of Fábrica do Inglês (equipment currently closed).

The João de Deus Museum House is a space that recreates and looks back at the time when the poet and pedagogue João de Deus lived. CMJD is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 13 pm and from 14:30 pm to 18:30 pm. More information about the crib can be collected from the Casa Museu by calling 282 330 189 or by emailing [email protected].
