The Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) today congratulated, in a press release, on the «approval of the transnational candidacy of seven of the Mediterranean countries (Cyprus, Croatia, Spain, Greece, Italy, Morocco and Portugal) that they share. the Mediterranean Diet as an ancient cultural heritage».

the application was approved yesterday during the 8th session of the Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which runs until Saturday, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

«Despite the national context of the application, the Algarve region is also highlighted, as it is the emblematic community of Tavira that represents Portugal in this initiative», stresses the CCDRA.

CCDR Algarve states that “it is proud to have been part, since January 2011, of the initial working group and the National Commission subsequently appointed, which drew up and presented the candidacy of the Mediterranean Diet and will continue to support, via PO Algarve, the activities of the regional partners to safeguard and transmit the Mediterranean way of life to future generations'.
